San Giovanni e Arezzo sono state le due mete del gruppo di studenti e insegnanti di Corning. Domenica trascorsa a Cortona. La settimana invece sarà intensa
Sabato di riposo in famiglia per il gruppo di Corning, ospite dell’ITE Severi a San Giovanni Valdarno. Dopo un giorno e mezzo di voli gli studenti ed i professori hanno approfittato del sabato per riposarsi e visitare il Valdarno e la città di Arezzo. Molto gradita dai professori americani la visita delle belle Chiese di Arezzo e del suo centro storico, compreso il famoso “Caffè dei Costanti”.
Domenica invece gli studenti e gli insegnanti della High School di Corning sono andati a visitare la città di Cortona. Insieme ai loro colleghi sangiovannesi i giovani americani si sono recati in Valdichiana per visitare Cortona, città molto conosciuta in tutto il mondo e particolarmente negli Stati Uniti. Ricevuti dalla vice sindaco della città Tania Salvi e dal consigliere Luca Pacchini nella sala del consiglio, gli ospiti americani hanno potuto visitare il maestoso palazzo comunale ammirandone i pregi artistici e architettonici, il centro storico ed il bel museo storico con i prestigiosi reperti esposti. Il gruppo di Corning ha visitato anche la chiesa francescana con le reliquie di San Francesco. In serata rientro a casa e preparazione per la giornata di domani quando saranno ricevuti a Firenze in Palazzo Panciatichi dalla consigliera regionale Valentina Vadi che spiegherà loro la struttura e l’organizzazione del nostro sistema democratico.
Saturday resting at home for the group of Corning, guest of ITE Severi in San Giovanni Valdarno. After a day of flight, american students and professors took advantage of the Saturday to rest and visit the Arno Valley and the city of Arezzo. Much appreciated by american teachers inspection the beautiful churches in Arezzo and its historic center, including the famous "Constants of coffee."
Sunday: students and teachers of the Corning High School visited Cortona town. Along with their italian colleagues the american students traveled toValdichiana to visit Cortona, well known town all over the world and particularly in the United States. They met the deputy Mayor Mrs. Tania Salvi and concilior Luca Pacchini in the municipality hall and they visited the majestic municipal building admiring the artistic and architectural merits, the old town centre and the beautiful historical museum with prestigious exhibits. The Corning group also visited the Franciscan church with the relics of St. Francis. In the evening they came back home to get prepared for tomorrow's trip to Florence where they will meet the Regional Councillor ValentinaVadi, in Palazzo Panciatichi, who will explain them the structure and theorganization of our democratic system.
